Discover the magic of French Flute and Piano Music, in Toronto!
Join flutist Caara Yeung and pianist Joonghun Cho on June 6th, 2025 (Friday) for an evening of French flute and piano music that explores a rich tradition from the late 19th century to the present.
The program opens with the atmospheric beauty of Debussy’s Syrinx and the lyrical Romanticism of Gaubert and Enesco, moves through the bold modernism of Poulenc, and culminates in two Canadian premieres: a radiant neoromantic sonata by rising composer Corentin Boissier, and a striking work by internationally acclaimed Nicolas Bacri. Bacri’s Spring Sonata bridges atonality and tonality, offering a modern reinterpretation of classical form with a renewed sense of harmonic clarity.
This recital offers an engaging exploration of French music, where tradition meets innovation and expressive depth. Whether you're a classical music enthusiast or simply curious, come discover the magic of French flute and piano music and immerse yourself in the richness of French culture!

Calvin Presbyterian Church was founded in 1925 by members of the former Deer Park Presbyterian Church who chose to remain within the Presbyterian Church in Canada during a period of national church union. Since then, it has grown into a vibrant part of Toronto’s spiritual and cultural life. The church has long maintained a commitment to both tradition and community, and today it shares its ministry with Deer Park United Church, reflecting a spirit of unity and collaboration.
The building itself is a fine example of early 20th-century church architecture, offering a quiet and dignified presence in midtown Toronto. With nearly a century of history behind its doors, Calvin Presbyterian continues to serve as a gathering place for reflection, connection, and shared experience.
